Reminder: New Form I-9 Becomes Mandatory Starting September 18

 

As of September 18, all new hires around the country must complete the newly revised Form I-9, dated 07/17/17. Form I-9 is used to verify employment eligibility in the United States. Although the updated form contains only minor differences from the previous version, failure to comply will result in significant fines if audited. Employers should be sure the correct form is distributed to new hires. Like the previous version, parts the new Form I-9 can be filled out electronically or it can be printed and filled out physically.

 

Starting Monday, 9/18/17, employers and members of HR should:

  • Recycle the outdated version of Form I-9 dated 11/14/16
